Our Impact
How does the Foundation support the CRNA profession?
The Foundation supports Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesiologists (CRNAs) and Resident Registered Nurse Anesthesiologists (RRNAs) at every stage of their careers through a strong focus on education and research, in addition to health policy research that helps demonstrate the safety and effectiveness of CRNAs as anesthesia providers.
To support this vital workforce, AANA Foundation invests in education and research through scholarships, grants, and programmatic support. We partner with CRNAs and supporters nationwide to drive meaningful impact and ensure a strong future for nurse anesthesiology. This support is delivered through a range of programs and research initiatives, as highlighted in the graphic.
Supporting CRNA/Nurse Anesthesiologist Research and Education Since 1981
For 45 years AANA Foundation has played a significant role in supporting CRNAs, improving patient care, and advancing the nurse anesthesiology profession.
Today, CRNAs safely administer more than 58.5 million anesthetics each year. They are essential providers who deliver high-quality anesthesia care in every setting - from major hospitals to rural clinics where they are often the sole anesthesia professionals.
Individuals and organizations that support our mission fuel innovations that improve patient outcomes, reduce healthcare disparities, and expand access to anesthesia services. Every dollar helps advance evidence‑based practice, train the next generation of anesthesia experts, and ensure that patients across the country receive safe, compassionate, and cost‑effective care.
